I wish to never see a Guy Fawkes mask ever again. Unless you’re actually going to blow up the parliament.
Not really sure if I want to continue this tumblr. Don’t get me wrong : I absolutely do enjoy riot-porn. I think rioting is inspiring, a bubble of injustice that bursts and explodes right in the eyes of the oppressor. I wouldn’t call myself an insurrectionists as I haven’t read enough about the matter and don’t like labels anyway, but I do honestly believe that oppressors won’t stop without serious pressure. Not only by waving flags and signing petitions but hitting them where it actually hurts - in their wallets. I do believe that whenever people will become so free and self-sufficient that they don’t even need the state anymore that the state and corporations will do their utter best to in a way destroy that society since hell why wouldn’t they want to give up their priviliged positions anyway? So I absolutely believe in attacking oppression.
But I have the utmost respect for anyone who actually tries to build something up instead of burning something down. Anyone who participates in setting up a peoples kitchen, an homeless shelter, an animal shelter, a social center, an infoshop, a venue, a bike-workshop, any other workshop, even a garden or whatever it is you do which makes you a bit more self-sufficient and less depending on whatever the state has to offer you - my deepest respect. And this tumblr definitely doesn’t focus enough on the second part of the name (“destroy-create-agitate”), the creation of our own space and actually building up a space where everyone feels welcome, no matter what colour of skin, age, gender, sexual preference, size, whatever the hell people dare to discriminate eachother on.
Thinking about it all since I read an article yesterday about a sustainable movement. And building up safe spaces, our own spaces, self-sufficient spaces, alternatives to the system, … , are way more sustainable than rioting. Not that I no longer support rioting as I said - the more the better! - but I just felt like this blog is too much “destroy” and not enough “create” at all.
Anarchism isn’t only about rioting and protesting - personally I put creating, organizing and building things up on the first place and destruction (since I do not believe that the system will just let us stay our spaces and I absolutely don’t believe in asking them permission for whatever the fuck we do, so I do absolutely believe in resistance) on the second place. Personal though, everyone has the right to do what they want obviously. Even when it’s nothing at all - even though it’s too bad, but your personal health is really really important and if you feel like not doing something you shouldn’t. Getting a burn-out because you don’t dare to say no to anything isn’t fun. Not a good excuse for being lazy though ;-).
Just a small rant to make sure that you all do look further than all the riot-porn. Heroïsm isn’t my cup of tea and I enjoy working in a garden or in a squat way more than rioting. Not even talking about all the evidence you gather with movies and pictures which can be used against certain persons. And not even talking about how I fucking hate the thousands who come to a protest with their videocamera to take the best shots - how can you help your fellow protester when he/she’s getting arrested with a camera in your hand?
Shit can’t remember where I saw it… it was some protest at an embassy that’s all I remember. My bad!
if anyone ever puts their hands on you in a way that you don’t consent to, slice that motherfucker open
